Sacks and big bags

Packaging for bulk products designed for what comes after filling: storing, moving and loading safely.

When a product moves in bulk, packaging stops being a question of presentation and becomes a question of logistics. Sacks and big bags are designed to pack, store and transport large quantities of product, make handling easier and carry heavy loads safely, in both agricultural and industrial processes.

The big bag is the highest-capacity format: a flexible container with loops at the top so it can be lifted by forklift or crane. It is the usual choice for moving grain, fertiliser, aggregates, pellets or industrial bulk products without splitting them into lots of small sacks. Its capacity, the type of filling spout and the type of discharge are chosen according to the product and the installation, so they are defined case by case.

In sacks we work with several families for different uses. The jute sack, made of natural fibre, is breathable and is the classic choice for potatoes and other agricultural products. The PE sack, made of polyethylene, is waterproof and, depending on the model, lets you see or protect the contents. Fruit and vegetable sacks, made of netting, ventilate the produce; if that is your case, you will find more detail on our page about netting for potatoes and onions. And there are certified sacks for uses where that requirement applies.

The choice depends on three questions: how much each unit weighs, whether the product needs ventilation or protection from moisture, and how it will be handled, by hand or with machinery. A net sack is perfect for onions and a mistake for a fine powder; a big bag only makes sense if you have the means to lift it. If what you are looking for is bags for retail sale, take a look at our plastic or paper bags.

At Fontanet Group, from Fraga (Huesca) and with a team that has more than 30 years in the sector, we advise you on choosing the sack or big bag that suits your product and your way of working. Capacities, dimensions, materials and certifications for each reference are confirmed with our sales team.

It depends on the model and the product it will hold. Tell us what you pack, its approximate density and how you will lift it, and we will propose the reference.

Jute, PE or net sack?

Jute breathes and is the agricultural classic; PE is waterproof; netting ventilates and is the usual choice for fruit and vegetables. The choice depends on whether the product needs to breathe or be protected from moisture.
