L-550 automatic tray sealer

Sealing of trays and tubs at up to 12-15 cycles per minute, with vacuum and gas, over a sealing area of up to 400 × 280 mm.

The L-550 is an automatic tray sealer for plants that need a high pace without giving up a wide variety of packs. According to its catalogue sheet it reaches up to 12-15 cycles per minute, works in modified atmosphere by combining vacuum and gas, and offers a sealing area of up to 400 × 280 mm. With those three figures a first production estimate can be made from the very first contact.

The sealing area is what gives it its versatility. A 400 × 280 mm area takes large trays of ready meals or meat, but also multi-cavity moulds for tubs, cups or small trays of sliced meats and cheese. The more units fit per cycle, the more output multiplies: with a multi-cavity mould, 12-15 cycles per minute turn into many more sealed units.

Vacuum followed by gas flushing removes the air from the pack more thoroughly before the protective gas mixture is introduced. It is the usual technique for meat, cured meats, fish and ready meals, where residual oxygen shortens shelf life. If your product does not need modified atmosphere, mention it when you ask for a quote and we will assess the most suitable configuration.

When should you choose the L-550 over its sister models? The semi-automatic MAP tray sealer stays at 3-4 cycles per minute with manual loading: it suits short runs. The LS-975 and LS-1375 are in-line models to integrate with conveyors in plants with sustained volume. The L-550 fills the middle ground: automatic, with a known output and with a generous sealing area for working with very different packs.

Frequently asked questions

How many units does it seal per minute?

Up to 12-15 cycles per minute according to the catalogue sheet. The number of units depends on how many cavities the mould has within the 400 × 280 mm area.

What does MAP with vacuum and gas mean?

It first draws the air out of the pack and then flushes in the gas mixture before sealing. This leaves less residual oxygen and the product keeps for longer.

Is it suitable for tubs and cups, not just trays?

Yes, as long as the pack has a sealable rim and fits within the sealing area. It is set up with the right mould for your pack.
