Liquid hand soap for professional use

Washing hands with soap and water is the most basic hygiene habit and the one repeated most often during the working day in a food business: on arrival, after a break, after using the toilet, after handling rubbish or dirty boxes and before touching produce again. Liquid soap is designed for that daily, continuous use, where what matters is that product is always available and that washing is convenient.

Compared with a bar of soap, the liquid format has clear advantages in a professional setting. Each person takes their own dose without touching the product the next person will use, it does not sit wet and dirty on the washbasin and it is dispensed with a single movement. It also allows wall dispensers to be refilled, keeping the washing point tidy and limiting waste.

It is worth telling it apart from disinfectant soap. Liquid hand soap cleans: it carries away dirt, grease and a good part of the microorganisms when rinsed. Disinfectant soap also adds an antimicrobial active ingredient and is reserved for control points where the protocol requires it, such as the entrance to a handling room. Many companies use liquid soap in toilets, changing rooms and the canteen, and disinfectant at the entrances to production.

For hand washing to be effective, technique matters more than the soap: wet the hands, apply the dose, rub palms, backs, between the fingers and nails for long enough, rinse and dry with single-use paper. Placing the dispenser close to the washbasin and the drying point helps staff do it properly and without shortcuts.
