Polypropylene packaging tape with acrylic adhesive

Packaging tape has two parts worth separating when you choose: the backing, which is the film you see, and the adhesive, which is what actually keeps the box closed. In this tape the backing is polypropylene (PP), the most widely used material in industrial packaging because it is light and strong, and the adhesive is acrylic, the most versatile of the three we work with.

Acrylic adhesive performs well at extreme temperatures and in humidity, and it resists UV rays and the passage of time. That makes it the right option when the box does not ship straight away: goods that spend months in a warehouse, seasonal stock or shipments that travel a long way. Our data sheet states that acrylic polypropylene can be stored for a year. It also unwinds quietly, which is welcome at a packing station handling many boxes a day.

Compared with its siblings, the difference lies in the type of grab. Hot melt grips faster on first contact and performs on high-speed lines on clean cardboard, but copes less well with cold and heat. Solvent gives maximum adhesion on recycled cardboard, in cold stores or in humid environments. Acrylic is the balance point: if you close standard smooth cardboard and have no special condition, it is the one we recommend by default.

We supply it in short rolls for hand dispensers (the usual market format is 66 metres) and in long rolls for case sealers, usually 900 to 1,000 metres, on a standard 76 mm core. It is designed for light parcels of up to 20 kg. To get the best out of it, apply it above +10 °C and press lightly on the tape, without stretching it. It comes in clear, brown or tan and colours, depending on format.
