Cardboard pallet top cap

The pallet top cap is a piece of cardboard with folded edges that fits over the top face of the load. It works like a box lid on a pallet scale: it covers the top layer, protects the goods from dust, humidity and external agents during storage and transport, and reduces direct exposure to the sun when the pallet is waiting on a dock or in an outdoor yard.

It also has a mechanical effect that is often overlooked. Combined with stretch film, the cap gives the film a firm surface to tension against at the top, and the strapping, if used, no longer bears directly on the product. The catalogue sheet shows it with two pallets of flat-packed boxes, with cardboard caps on the top and at the base and the whole unit strapped. The result is a load that arrives intact at its destination, with less waste and fewer replacements.

Within the pallet protection family, each piece has its place. The cap covers the top; the layer pad goes between layers to spread the weight; the edge protector reinforces the vertical corners; and honeycomb board is the high-compression material for support and general protection. A well-protected pallet often combines a top cap and edge protectors under the film or strapping.

The size is defined by the pallet format and the edge height you need. Cardboard caps are available in a white and a black finish, and customisation is studied case by case. If the pallet is double-stacked in the warehouse or travels in a container, mention it when ordering the cap, because it determines the strength it needs to have.
