Rotary arm stretch wrapper

Here the pallet does not move: it is the arm that rotates around it applying the film. The solution for heavy, tall or badly stacked loads that would not stand up to a turntable.

In a rotary arm stretch wrapper the pallet stays on the floor, or on the conveyor, and a horizontal arm rotates around it while the carriage holding the reel travels up and down. Because the load does not turn, it is not subject to centrifugal force: the problems disappear with tall, soft or badly stacked pallets that would shift or collapse on a turntable.

That is why it is the usual choice for heavy loads of more than 1,500 kg and for products that cannot be rotated. It is also the natural option when the pallet arrives and leaves on a roller line, because there is no need to lift it on or off a turntable: the machine is mounted over the conveyor path and wraps the load where it stands.

The model we supply is semi-automatic, robustly built and designed for continuous work. It takes reels of up to 20 kg, which means fewer reel changes, and it is operated from a separate control panel with a graphic display and JOG controls to move the arm and carriage during adjustments and reel changes. Film tension and wrapping height are set according to the load, and it works with pre-stretched or conventional machine film.

Compared with its sister machines, the difference is one of approach. The LD-200 turntable stretch wrapper is simpler to install and suits stable, medium-weight loads. The Speedy and Master 3 X4 robots travel to the pallet wherever it is, with no fixed station. The rotary arm machine calls for a somewhat higher investment than the turntable, justified by the type of load or by integration into the line.

MARFONT, the machinery division of Fontanet Group (Fraga, Huesca), looks with you at the weight and height of your pallets and how they reach the wrapping area before recommending this machine. Installation, operator training and technical service are handled by our team, with more than 30 years in the sector.

Advantages

  • The pallet does not turn. No centrifugal force on the load: suitable for unstable or badly stacked pallets.
  • Heavy loads. The usual option for pallets of more than 1,500 kg.
  • Can be integrated into a line. Wraps on the roller conveyor without moving the pallet.
  • Reels up to 20 kg. Fewer reel changes on high-volume days.
  • Controls with graphic display. Separate panel with JOG controls for adjustments and reel changes.

Frequently asked questions

When is a rotary arm stretch wrapper worth it compared with a turntable?

When the load is heavy, tall or unstable, or when the pallet arrives on a roller line. If your pallets are stable and of medium weight, a turntable is usually enough.

Can it be integrated into a conveyor line?

Yes, it is one of its strengths: the arm wraps the pallet on the conveyor without having to lift it onto a turntable. We look at the line layout and cycle times with you.

What film does it need?

Machine stretch film, pre-stretched or conventional, on reels of up to 20 kg. We advise you on gauge and width according to the load and the journey.
