Clear rPET fruit trays

A clear rPET fruit tray is a thermoformed tray with individual cavities made from post-consumer recycled PET, usually with a recycled content of between 70 % and 100 %. It holds and separates each piece of fruit like any other tray, but adds something no other material achieves: the piece can be seen whole through the tray, with no shadows or haze.

That transparency is a selling point. On the premium fruit shelf, in the supermarket or in a gourmet range, shoppers decide by looking, and fruit that is neatly aligned and visible from every side conveys selection and quality before anyone touches it. That is why clear rPET is chosen for point-of-sale presentation rather than for bulk transport.

Technically, rPET is very stiff for its weight: it allows low thicknesses, in the region of 0.25 to 0.50 mm, without losing stability when stacked. It does not absorb moisture and keeps its shape in cold storage. Its limit is heat: above +60 °C it starts to lose its geometry, so it is not a material for heat processes. It is suitable for food contact under Regulation (EU) 10/2011.

It is also a direct answer to sustainability specifications: it gives a second life to PET that already exists instead of producing virgin plastic, and at the end of its use it goes back into the yellow recycling bin to be recycled again within the same PET loop.
