Disposable shoe covers
A single-use cover worn over footwear so that dirt from outside is not carried into the clean area.
Footwear is what has the most contact with the outside: the loading yard, the car park, the field, offices or warehouse areas. Anything stepped on outside can end up inside if there is no barrier. The shoe cover is that barrier: a cover slipped over the shoe on entering a clean area and removed on leaving, preventing cross-contamination between areas.
It is held in place by elastic around the opening that fits it to the ankle or the edge of the shoe, so that it does not come off when walking. It goes on in a few seconds, without taking shoes off, and fits different types and sizes of footwear. That makes it very practical at busy access points, where it makes no sense to ask everyone to change their shoes.
Its main users are people who come in occasionally: visitors, auditors, maintenance technicians, suppliers or office staff. Plant staff usually have their own work footwear, which does not leave the area, but shoe covers are also used by in-house staff to move into more sensitive areas, such as a quality control laboratory, a packing room or a freshly cleaned area.
The floor is worth bearing in mind. In wet areas or where there are product residues, a shoe cover can be more slippery than a work sole, so it is important to consider where it will be used and to organise the entrance with a space for putting covers on and taking them off. Placed alongside coats, caps and a gel or soap dispenser, they make up a complete access point.
At Fontanet Group (Fraga, Huesca) we work with a team with more than 30 years in the sector and keep permanent stock of PPE and hygiene products so that your production never stops for lack of supplies. Material, size and pack format of the available shoe covers are confirmed by our sales team, who will help you calculate consumption based on the entries to your plant.

Frequently asked questions
What are shoe covers for?
To prevent cross-contamination: they stop dirt from outside being carried in on footwear into clean areas, laboratories or handling areas.
Do they fit any type of shoe?
They are held by elastic and go on over most footwear without taking shoes off. We confirm the available size depending on the reference.
Can they be used on wet floors?
It needs to be assessed, because on wet floors or with product residues they can be more slippery than a work sole. Organise the entrance so they are put on in a dry area.
