Cardboard bussel base

The bottom of the bussel export box: it takes the layers of Traypack Cargo and bears the weight of the fruit all along the chain.

The bussel is the cardboard fruit export box, deeper than the standard box, used to move seasonal apples and pears. Fontanet supplies it in two separate parts: the lid, which closes it, and the bussel base, which is the bottom of the box and the part that bears the full weight of the fruit.

On the packing line, the base is the first thing to be assembled. The first Traypack Cargo is seated on its bottom, pushed against the walls so it does not shift during filling; the fruit is then placed piece by piece and, layer by layer, the box is completed before it is closed with the lid. That is why the rigidity of the base walls is precisely what keeps the layers in place, both during filling and throughout transport.

According to its data sheet, the bussel box has a strong structure that protects the fruit during handling and distribution, makes for safe stacking with better pallet stability, optimises logistics space by cutting storage and shipping costs, and offers good ventilation to preserve product quality. The built-in handles make manual handling easier for a box that is genuinely heavy once it is full.

Every box needs one base and one lid, so the usual approach is to order both parts in the same quantity, together with Traypack Cargo trays in the number that matches the calibre of your fruit. Placing a single order for the whole system avoids running short of one of the parts right in the middle of the season.

We are in Fraga (Huesca), right inside the growing area, and we know the peaks of the apple season from the inside. The available dimensions, board grade and printing options for the base are confirmed by our sales team according to your volume, your variety and your destination.
