Stainless steel automatic case packer with conveyors and a cardboard box full of fruit

Automatic basket case packer

It places the produce into boxes automatically, with no operators filling by hand. Designed for high-output lines working with baskets and cardboard boxes.

On a fruit packing line, filling boxes is often a bottleneck: several operators placing produce into baskets at a pace that depends on each person's fatigue and experience. The automatic case packer, basket model, takes over that step. Empty boxes arrive on a conveyor, the machine places the produce inside and the full boxes leave on the belt towards the next station.

The central module is made of stainless steel, with a touch screen for selecting the job, an emergency stop button and a beacon light that shows the machine's status from a distance. The infeed and outfeed conveyors adapt to the layout of your plant, so the case packer slots into the line without changing the rest of the process.

Its catalogue sheet sums up its strengths in two: high output and great versatility. Versatility matters during the season, when different varieties, calibres and box formats are packed in the same week; the usual approach is to adjust the machine to each reference rather than having one piece of equipment for each. Which formats it accepts, and at what rate, depends on the produce and is studied case by case.

It should not be confused with a case sealer. The semi-automatic case sealer closes the box with packaging tape, but does not form or fill boxes. The case packer works before that: it puts the produce inside. Then come the closure or lid, when the format requires it, and the PAC-23 automatic palletiser, which stacks the baskets on the pallet. Together they make up the automated end of line.

MARFONT, the machinery division of Fontanet Group (Fraga, Huesca), studies your produce, your boxes and the pace of the line to configure the case packer, and confirms whether your project also needs box forming. Installation, training and technical service are provided by our team, with more than 30 years in the sector.

Frequently asked questions

Does the case packer also close the boxes?

No. It fills the boxes with produce; closing with tape is done by a case sealer, and the lid, when the format has one, is handled at another step on the line.

Does it accept different box formats?

Its sheet highlights its great versatility. The specific formats depend on your produce: send us the dimensions and we will confirm the configuration.

What comes after the case packer?

Usually box closing and the PAC-23 automatic palletiser, which stacks the baskets on the pallet before stretch wrapping.
