Disposable latex gloves

Latex is natural rubber, obtained from the sap of the rubber tree. That origin gives it the property that sets it apart from other disposable gloves: an elasticity that makes it hug the hand almost like a second skin. The result is the highest tactile sensitivity in the range, something that is appreciated when the task demands precision and nimble fingers.

That is why latex has its place in fine work: inspecting and sorting delicate produce, handling small parts, taking samples, preparing labels or working in a quality control laboratory. Because it fits so well, it does not crease at the fingertips or slip, and the operator loses less dexterity than with a loose-fitting glove such as vinyl or polyethylene.

One point needs to be borne in mind: natural latex contains proteins that can cause allergic reactions in some people, both in the wearer and, in certain cases, in those who come into contact with what has been touched. Before introducing it across your workforce, it is advisable to find out whether anyone is allergic. If so, or if you prefer not to take that risk with the product you handle, nitrile gloves offer a similar feel and are latex-free.

Compared with nitrile, latex wins on elasticity and comfort during prolonged use, while nitrile offers better resistance to chemicals and punctures. Compared with vinyl and polyethylene, latex is clearly superior in fit and sensitivity; those two are best kept for short or occasional low-risk tasks. The choice depends on the job, and there is no single glove for everything.
