PVC packaging tape

In this family of packaging tapes, what changes is the backing, not the adhesive. PVC is a stronger film with more grip than polypropylene (PP), which is the general-purpose packaging tape. The difference shows precisely where PP causes problems: surfaces that are not flat, textured boxes, reinforced packaging or shipments where a lifting seal means a customer complaint.

Because it conforms better to the surface, PVC tape follows the irregularities of the cardboard instead of sitting taut over them. That is why it is chosen for boxes that travel with a lot of handling, for valuable goods or for shipments that need a more secure closure. On the other hand, it usually costs somewhat more than PP, so there is no point using it on standard boxes that polypropylene closes without any problems.

It should not be confused with the choice of adhesive. The backing (PP, PVC or kraft paper) determines strength and appearance; the adhesive (acrylic, hot melt or solvent) determines how it sticks depending on the cardboard, the temperature and the time in storage. PVC tape solves a mechanical problem, but if your box is made of recycled cardboard or is stored in the cold, the adhesive is still the first thing to check.

If you use a case sealer, check with us before switching to PVC: not all machines work in the same way with all materials, and the MARFONT technical team will tell you whether your model is compatible. The standard core is 76 mm, suitable for most dispensers and case sealers; if your equipment uses a different diameter, we can supply that too depending on the machinery. Available colours and formats depend on the material.
