Hidrocuero paper with moisture barrier

Sheets of grey leatherboard paper with moisture-resistant treatment and a polyethylene barrier, for separating loads and protecting palletised goods.

Hidrocuero paper is a grey leatherboard paper, stiff and strong, which is given a moisture-resistant treatment and a 15 g polyethylene (PE) barrier. The result is a sheet that behaves like a technical separating paper: it bears the weight of the load, stays stable and stops moisture from passing through to the goods.

Its most common use is as a pallet separator. A sheet is placed on the pallet timber before stacking the boxes, or between layers of product, so that moisture from the boards, the warehouse floor or a cold store does not reach the cardboard. A box that absorbs moisture loses compression strength and can collapse in the stack; the hidrocuero sheet cuts that problem off at the base. It also stops splinters or dirt from the pallet marking the boxes in the first layer.

The catalogue sheet recommends it for agri-food applications, where it is common to work with cold stores, produce that gives off moisture and pallets that pass through damp environments. As well as food and agriculture, it is used in logistics, packaging and industry in general, for any palletised load that has to travel or be stored without moisture spoiling it.

It should not be confused with other materials in the range. It is not a cushioning material like bubble wrap or foam: it is not designed to absorb knocks, but to separate and protect from moisture. Compared with a layer pad or a cardboard sheet, its advantage is the polyethylene barrier; compared with a plastic pallet cover, it works at the base and between layers, not on top. It combines well with edge protectors and film to complete the protection of the pallet.

At Fontanet Group, in Fraga (Huesca), with a team that has more than 30 years in the packaging sector, we help you choose the protective material to suit your product and the way you ship. Our sales team will confirm the sheet formats available for your pallet size.
