The packaging and industrial machinery sector is constantly evolving. New materials, new regulations, new automation solutions and new ways to protect, pack and transport products.
At Fontanet Group we keep a close eye on every development so we can always offer you the most up-to-date and efficient solutions. In this section we bring together the most relevant news in the sector: from the latest additions to our machinery catalogue to the changes in European packaging regulations, including the trade fairs where you can meet us.
New machines in our catalogue
These are the eight machines we present as industrial news. All of them cover the final stretch of the line, from the moment the product is packed until the pallet leaves the building: wrapping, strapping, sealing and preserving. It is also the stretch where the most labour hours go and where the most goods get damaged if the job is done badly.
They are distributed by MARFONT, the group’s machinery division, with engineering, installation, operator training and in-house technical service from Fraga.

Turntable Pallet Wrapper
Stretch wrapping system with a rotating turntable for pallets. The pallet turns on a rotary table while the carriage moves up and down with the film, making it the choice for stable, medium-weight loads. Compared with manual wrapping it cuts film consumption by 30 to 40 %, and it works with pre-stretched and conventional film with adjustable reinforcement and overlap programmes.

Rotary Arm Pallet Wrapper
Pallet wrapper with a rotating arm, perfect for unstable loads or products that cannot turn during the process. Here the pallet does not move: the arm travels around it, with adjustable tension and height. It is the usual choice for heavy loads of more than 1,500 kg, or for stacked products that would fall apart if rotated.

Pallet Wrapping Robot
Autonomous wrapping robot that moves around the pallet with no need for a turntable. It goes wherever the load is, even outside the warehouse, without moving it with a forklift. Ideal for companies with limited space, large-format pallets or unusual loads that do not fit in a fixed wrapper. We offer it in the Master 3 X4 and Speedy models.

Flejadora OR-T S19
Manual battery-powered strapping tool of the latest generation for polyester and polypropylene straps. Ergonomic design, lightweight and long battery life: a single charge straps hundreds of packages, with no power socket or cables across the floor. Designed for intensive use in the warehouse, at the loading dock or in the field, wherever a table strapping machine cannot reach.

Horizontal Strapping Machine
Industrial strapping machine with horizontal orientation, specialising in strapping flat products, long packages and coils. The strap goes around the item horizontally, which is exactly what profiles, boards or very long packages require. Speed and tension can be set according to the material, with polypropylene or polyester strap.

Vacuum Packaging Machine
Professional Zermat vacuum packaging machine for preserving food and oxygen-sensitive products. Large chamber, digital control and 100 % stainless steel construction. By removing oxygen it extends product life three to five times compared with conventional refrigeration and prevents cross-contamination. For workshops there is the BluesVac 42+; for high output, the DC950 PRO.

Semi-Automatic Case Sealer
Semi-automatic case sealer that applies adhesive tape to the top and bottom of the box in a single pass. Adjustable to different formats, it gives every box a uniform seal and takes manual taping, which is slow and never comes out the same, off the end of the line. It integrates in line with the rest of the process.

Semi-Automatic Strapping Machine
Semi-automatic industrial strapping machine for safe, fast strapping of boxes, packages and pallets. Robust construction and minimal maintenance. The operator passes the strap around the package and the machine tensions, seals and cuts it, so the closure is the same on the first box as on the last. Our reference model is the SQ-800 table machine.

Machines change because what is asked of them changes. These are the four trends that are driving purchasing decisions most in the warehouses, fruit and vegetable packhouses and factories we work with.
European packaging regulations
The new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is changing the rules of the game. It replaces the old directive, applies in the same way in every EU country and sets a phased timetable: stricter recyclability requirements, minimum percentages of recycled content in plastic packaging and less unnecessary packaging, with milestones that tighten towards 2030 and 2040.
- Stricter requirements for recyclability and recycled content.
- Less empty space and less over-packaging in transport packaging.
- Fontanet already offers solutions aligned with that direction, such as black rPET fruit trays and FSC-certified materials.
How does it affect your business? It depends on the material, the format and who you sell to. Talk to our team and we will review it with you, product by product.
End-of-line automation
More and more warehouses and factories are automating wrapping, strapping, labelling and palletising. It is not a fad: it is the answer to staff shortages during the season and to the cost of human error at the end of the line, where a badly wrapped pallet or a badly closed box is paid for at destination.
- Lower labour costs and fewer handling errors.
- Consistent results: box number one thousand comes out the same as the first.
- MARFONT offers tailor-made end-of-line solutions, from netting machines to pallet wrapping.
Sustainable materials
Demand is growing for rPET, cellulose from certified sources and compostable materials. Many buyers already require in their specifications that board and paper come with responsible forest management certification, and recycled packaging has gone from a sales argument to a requirement in more than one tender.
- Growing demand for rPET and certified cellulose.
- FSC certification, increasingly present in purchasing specifications.
- Fontanet holds FSC certification for its products.
Digitalisation and process control
The last link in automation is measurement. In-line dynamic weighing, batch labelling and traceability, metal detection and automated quality control let you know what has left each line, when and in what condition, and stop discovering problems in the customer’s complaint.
- Dynamic weighing, smart labelling and traceability systems.
- Automated quality control on packaging lines.
- MARFONT integrates these systems into its solutions: checkweighers, labelling machines and a weigher with metal detector.

Featured machinery: which one to choose for your load
The eight new machines do not compete with each other: they do three different jobs. This is the quick way to know where to start.
Pallet wrapping
| Machine | How it works | Choose it if… |
|---|---|---|
| Turntable Pallet Wrapper | It turns the pallet on a rotary table | Your loads are stable and medium weight |
| Rotary Arm Pallet Wrapper | The arm rotates around the stationary pallet | The load is heavy, unstable or cannot turn |
| Pallet Wrapping Robot | It moves around the load on its own | You are short of space or your pallets are large format |
All three use the same consumable, and choosing the right film matters as much as choosing the machine: we explain it in the industrial stretch film guide.
Strapping
| Machine | How it works | Choose it if… |
|---|---|---|
| Flejadora OR-T S19 | Manual, battery-powered and portable | You strap pallets at different points in the warehouse |
| Horizontal Strapping Machine | It straps horizontally | You work with flat or long products or coils |
| Semi-Automatic Strapping Machine | Fixed, the operator passes the strap | You close many boxes and packages at the same workstation |
Case sealing and preservation
The semi-automatic case sealer handles in-line sealing of cardboard boxes, top and bottom in a single pass. The Zermat vacuum packaging machine works one step earlier, on the primary pack, and is the one that extends the shelf life of meat, cold cuts, cheese, fish or ready meals. If your product goes in a tray rather than a bag, the trays guide covers tray sealers.
All machines are delivered with on-site installation, commissioning, operator training and an optional maintenance contract, and financing, leasing and renting options are available. You can see the full catalogue in packaging machinery.
